Get to da ch...atroom

Postby gnome_alone » Thu Oct 01, 2009 8:44 pm

every time i go into chat it always peeves me a little when i see, for example,
21 IN CHAT, 101 IN GAME, 373 ONLINE

feedback on the steam forums suggests that many people who signed up for this group probably don't even know that the chatroom exists. how about we set aside an evening to invite some of these people into the group chat, set up some games and see if we can't get some more chat regulars...?

as well as adding some variety into proceedings this might help fill out the chatroom outside of the usual happy hour(s).

your thoughts...?

To be honest, we have all spammed 'join the chatroom' at some point in the steam forum, so if they haven't visited yet, I doubt that they will.

It is their loss, we all know the benefits that they are missing out on.

Being part of the group means that they will get a prompt whenever anyone posts an event on the group page - and a pop-up when the event starts if they are online at the time.
There have been a couple of versus events recently, and in the past there has been a 'meet the players' event, which was basically a call to join the chatroom. (it didnt work  )

I reckon we need a teamspeak for them to connect to, team speak usually unites everyone in a group because they feel it as HQ if you like, some people perhaps dislike Chat for some reason?

If announcements encouraging people to join the chatroom during a busy evening doesnt work, then nothing else will. So thats just it.

I've -generally- been trying to join whenever i'm on.

Haven't for the past couple of days though, as my Windows drive is spazzing out so I randomly lockup. It's dying a slow and painful death. :(

Same here, if I'm looking for a game, or just looking for some people to chat with I join the chatroom. It makes finding good games unbelievably easy. It's a new thing for me though, joining group chatrooms. But it was Forsaken that got me into it ;)
